How Long is a Session?

Your first appointment will last 2 hours. During this time we will discuss your health history, personal history, and lifestyle. This gives me a chance to get to know you better on a level deeper than your symptoms. It is also a time to notice if there are any areas of your life where you would like to invite change.

Follow up visits are 1 hour. These include a discussion of your current state, and how things are progressing. Each session will provide an opportunity to discuss all aspects of your health. This can be physical pain or mental/emotional stressors you may be experiencing.

After our discussion, you will receive an acupuncture treatment. I will be present in the room with you for the full duration of your treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This varies by person and dependent on multiple factors:

  • What would you like to address with your treatment?
  • How long have you experienced this issue?
  • Where are you in the recovery process?
  • What is your general state of health and other lifestyle factors?
  • What are your current stress levels?
  • Are you ready to change?

In general, short-term (acute) issues tend to respond quicker within a few treatments. While longer-term (chronic) problems may take longer consistent treatment.

Each person is a unique individual with their own lifestyle and health history. There is a cumulative effect with each additional acupuncture treatment. As balance ensues, some individuals choose to continue semi-regular treatments as a preventive measure and mental-emotional boost.

Does it Hurt?

Some areas of our body are more sensitive, and you may notice more of a sensation there. This is usually a quick pinch when the needle breaks the skin and should dissipate right after. Most patients remark that they feel calm and relaxed during and after the treatment.

The needles used in acupuncture are much smaller than the hypodermic needles you’ve encountered in the doctor’s office to draw blood or give injections.

The Acupuncture Needles I Use Are:

  • Sterilized
  • Used only once and then disposed
  • Made of surgical grade stainless steel
  • Solid (not hollow, like a syringe)
  • Contain no chemicals or additional products
Do You Accept Insurance

We do not work directly with insurance companies.

We do accept FSA and HSA cards, and we can provide a superbill for insurance if needed. This is a detailed receipt for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. It’s best to check with your plan administrator beforehand to determine if your plan accepts superbills.

Do I have to believe in this to work?

Nope! You just have to show up with an open mind and a willingness to move forward.

Some may assume that health improvements from acupuncture treatments are solely due to the placebo effect. But acupuncture works on animals! The benefits of acupuncture are supported by modern research in both humans and animals.

What Should I Wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing. There are acupuncture points all over the body, from the top of our head to the tips of our fingers and toes. Wear clothing that will allow access to your back, abdomen, chest, arms, and legs.

Please refrain from wearing any perfumes, cologne, or strongly scented beauty products.
